Support us

Givingthat carries on.

Everything that happens at City Church is carried by people who give freely.

Why we
ask for support.

City Church is funded entirely by voluntary giving. We do not collect church tax and receive no state funding.

Rooms, electricity and heating, equipment for services and recordings, materials for our work with children, books for the theology course, invitations and posters for the outreach week – the church carries all of this together.

In the New Testament, giving is a matter of the heart, not of obligation. Paul writes: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7) That is exactly how we mean it. No one has to give in order to belong. Everyone who comes to us is welcome – quite apart from whether they give anything.

Frequently asked
questions.

What people ask us most often about giving.

Will I receive a donation receipt?

Yes. FCG Neues Leben e.V. is a recognised charitable organisation and is entitled to issue donation receipts. All we need is to know who the gift came from – with a bank transfer that is clear from the statement, with cash please have a quick word with us.

We issue receipts once a year, covering the previous calendar year. If you need yours earlier or require a receipt for a single gift, just let us know.

If you have any questions, please get in touch – we are happy to sort it out personally.

Do I have to give as a guest or visitor?

No. Definitely not. Anyone who is a guest should feel welcome, not under pressure. Giving is for people who want to help carry the work of the church – voluntarily and to the extent that feels right for them.

What about the tithe?

Many Christians use the biblical tithe as a guide for their giving. We see it as a help, not as a law. The New Testament emphasises the inner attitude: freely, thoughtfully and gladly. What that means in practice is something each person decides before God.

Who decides how the money is used?

The board of FCG Neues Leben e.V. manages the funds and reports to the members' meeting. Donations given for a specific purpose are used for that purpose.

Can I give towards a particular project?

Yes. Simply add the purpose to the reference of your transfer, for example “children's work” or “outreach week”. If a purpose cannot be carried out, we will get in touch with you.
